Native Lands - The Last Susquehannock Settlement
The story of the Susquehannock people is told through the lens of the place where they last practiced their traditional way of life. The land where this settlement was located is now preserved as Native Lands County Park, the only Susquehannock settlement site accessible to the public.
Native Lands Tour
The story of the Susquehannock people is told at Native Lands County Park, the only Susquehannock settlement site that is open to the general public. Walk the land where a community of 900 people last practiced their traditional way of life. Located on a hillside overlooking the Susquehanna River, this serene, preserved land offers the opportunity to learn about the Susquehannock people, those who came before, and those who came after, while walking in their footsteps. Included in this program is the opportunity to visit the Susquehannock Gallery at the adjacent Zimmerman Center for Heritage, a National Park Service visitor contact station for the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail.
